We have lots of fun with Rhythm and Company. Residents and staff learn that making music percussion together is a wonderful, exciting experience. Something they will never forget.

One important benefit for everyone is the special relationships that develops. Music is a great source of stability throughout a turbulent world and offers residents and staff the chance to gain the self confidence needed for a healthy social and working environment.

Many studies have shown that music stimulates the mind, encourages creativity and aptitude.

The relationship between music and the development of skills is exceptionally close. Self-discipline, patience, sensitivity, coordination, the ability to memorize and concentrate are all enhanced with making music percussion. Studies also indicate that participation in activities such as ensemble drumming diminish the effects of senile dementia, and may even prevent the onset of disorders such as arthritis, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.

Plato once said "...music is a more potent instrument than any other..." now scientists know why!. Making music, they believe, trains the brain for higher forms of thinking and promote physiological benefits as it helps to create and maintain “connections” to people’s brains that may not otherwise form.
